Whether you like it mild, hot, or spicy, everyone is a fan of Stephen Curry. Arguably one of the most popular and most successful basketball players of the modern era, the Golden State Warrior two-time MVP is teaming up with Under Armour to launch his own apparel division. Dubbed ‘Curry Brand’, these new shoes are expected for release on December 11. Similar in stature to that of Michael Jordan’s relationship with Nike, much like Air Jordan took the world by storm, Under Armour is hoping for similar success from the Ohio born point guard.

Launching online at CurryBrand.com, the new collection will feature shoes and clothes for several sports, including basketball and golf. Launching during the “opportune” time between Black Friday and the holidays, Under Armour Chief Executive Patrik Frisk wanted to measure the launch came “as close as possible to the NBA season finally launching.” Also providing Stephen with something to engage in, Frisk is “excited to see one of our athletes being so involved in the product.” Having signed with Under Armour way back in 2013, Curry has since won three NBA championships with the Warriors and has been cited as the greatest shooter in NBA history by many a sports analyst.

Joining the likes of Dwayne the Rock Johnson, this new partnership will level the playing field against competitors like Nike. A significant aspect of the Curry Brand is providing resources and accessibly to children impacted by COVID-19. Speaking with Sports Illustrated, Curry revealed his role in Oakland to “create safe spaces to play, support programming, support coaches and leaders that are impacting our kids.” Centered around the four P’s – people, programs, products, and places – the Curry Brand started with over a $1 million worth of investment to provide safe places to play, court refurbishments, and programs that encourage kids to get active. “It’s all about living out our purpose and impacting as many kids as possible,” he said.

Working with the Oakland Unified School District, Curry has been working overtime to launch basketball at each middle school, partnering with the nonprofit organization, Positive Coaching Alliance, to bring professional coaching to all youth sports in the area. With a long-term vision to sign other athletes to the brand and “pass the torch off to people that are likeminded” Curry is looking ahead to the long-term goals of the brand, even though he had “nothing to talk about yet.” But when he does, Next Luxury will be sure to let you all know.
