The COVID-19 pandemic has confined millions of people in their homes for the entirety of the last two years. It has disrupted a lot of industries but also benefited some. The gaming industry is one sector that has gained the most during the pandemic as sales and players shot up during the last year. Older gamers now had plenty of time to play their favorite games or try out new ones. On the other hand, a lot of people also tried video games for the first time during quarantine. Regardless of where you are on that spectrum, you will probably be interested in the upcoming games to be released at the end of this year. As Q4 of 2021 has just begun, check out our list of the top video game releases for November 2021.

  1. Call of Duty: Vanguard

Coming from one of the biggest video game franchises, Call of Duty: Vanguard by Activision is coming on November 5 worldwide. This is going to be the 18th installment of the famous Call of Duty series. The franchise is known for exploring historical warfare as well as fictional and futuristic worlds. Vanguard will be set in the different theaters of World War II. It will feature the War in the Pacific, the Western and Eastern Fronts, and the North African theater. The different settings will give players a comprehensive view of World War II, as the lesser-known fronts are usually overlooked by other games. It will also reveal the origin of the special forces as they are put into the most crucial battles of the war. Call of Duty: Vanguard will be told from the point of view of Allied soldiers from different service backgrounds. This includes Sergeant Arthur Kingsley who is a paratrooper of the British Army and leader of Task Force One, as well as Lieutenant Polina Petrova, a sniper for the Soviet Red Army. You will also play Lieutenant 1st Class Wade Jackson who’s an American fighter pilot for the US Navy and lastly, Private Lucas Riggs, an infantryman from the Australian Army. There will also be elements of the supernatural in the game, as Vanguard will feature zombies produced by a Nazi secret project. Task Force One will also be involved in missions regarding the consequences of this project. Platform: Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X and S Release date: November 5, 2021 2. Jurassic World: Evolution 2

This is the highly anticipated sequel to 2018’s Jurassic World: Evolution. The original game introduced a different playstyle for the media franchise by creating a business simulation game for the world of Jurassic Park. Developed and published by Frontier Developments, this sequel will build on that legacy and continue the storyline. Set after the events of the film Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, you will be tasked to construct a brand new Jurassic World theme park. There will be more than 75 prehistoric species of dinosaurs, pterosaurs, and marine reptiles that you can get. You have to build different types of infrastructure, including enclosures, lagoons, and aviaries that will keep your animals happy and your guests safe from them. You need to maintain your park by feeding your animals the right food, providing them with adequate shelter, and keeping them in territories so that they will not fight each other. Planting trees and shrubs in the right areas for your herbivores to feed on is also essential. There are a whole lot of other features in the game that you will discover as you play. For fans of business simulator games, Jurassic World: Evolution 2 is an upcoming game that you should look out for. Platform: Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X and S Release date: November 9, 2021 3. Forza Horizon 5

This racing video game was developed by Playground Games and published by Xbox Game Studios as the 12th main installment of the popular Forza series. It is also the fifth one in the franchise to use the title Forza Horizon. Just like the recent Forza Horizon games, it features an open-world environment that you can explore. Set in Mexico, Forza Horizon 5 has the largest map the franchise has ever had. It is roughly 50% larger than the one in Forza Horizon 4. The world features terrain like jungles, beaches, ancient Mayan temples, and even an active caldera volcano for the adventurous. Real-life cities like Guanajuato are also included in the game. As one of the most popular racing video game franchises, Forza Horizon has always delivered top-quality games. Forza Horizon 5 is set to give players an even more realistic and immersive experience while still retaining their classic driving mechanics and gameplay. In addition, the game includes a new localized weather system that will affect your driving. The Horizon Arcade will also be introduced in this installment. This is a series of mini multiplayer games you can play on the map. Platform: Microsoft Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X and S Release date: November 9, 2021 4. Airborne Kingdom

Developed and published by The Wandering Band LLC, this game adds a fresh twist to the classic city builder simulation genre. Instead of building a settlement on an empty piece of land, Airborne Kingdom takes us to the skies. You will build a sky city for your clan while providing for all their needs. Think of it as SimCity for the skies. Physics plays an important role in the game. You will need to balance the weight of your infrastructure to keep your city stable. Players will also have to maintain the lift and make sure they have enough fuel to keep the town afloat. The environment is randomized for every playthrough, which gives you a lot of room for creativity. While keeping your city afloat will be easy at the start, it gets progressively harder as you expand. Once you add heavier infrastructure like plane hangars, the city will start to sink. The tilting and sinking will cause your residents to move away. This is something you must avoid because growing the population is quite a task. You need to find and recruit citizens directly, unlike other city-building simulator games. Platform: Microsoft Windows, macOS, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 Release date: November 9, 2021 5. Football Manager 2022

Football Manager is another popular video game series whose fans anticipate its release every year. This franchise lets players control their favorite football teams to every little detail without the need for playing each match on the pitch. It is the ultimate simulation game for sports fans. You will make decisions to help your team succeed as much as possible. Take care of everything from acquiring and releasing players, hiring and firing staff, to micro details like team meetings, individual player needs, and team morale. Football Manager 2022 is the largest installment of the franchise so far. It introduces an all-new Data Hub that gives you an in-depth look into tactics during matches. You can also consult with your team’s analysts for whatever statistics you want to review. The new animation system also lets you watch your team play right on the pitch in greater detail. While Football Manager is usually played on the PC, the 2022 installment introduces a mobile version with nearly identical features. Platform: Microsoft Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X and S Release date: November 9, 2021 6. Grand Theft Auto V

Grand Theft Auto V was first released by Rockstar Games in 2013 as the seventh main installment of the Grand Theft Auto series. It features the biggest and most diverse map of the franchise so far. While it is not exactly a new game, an enhanced and expanded version is set to be released in November 2021. The new updates will include Grand Theft Auto Online for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. Rockstar has promised significant technical improvements, visual upgrades, and performance enhancements using the latest technology. Widely recognized as one of the greatest video games of all time, GTA V is set in the fictional state of San Andreas. It follows the story of three different protagonists who are planning heists while trying to avoid government agents and other criminals. You can also explore the open world and interact with other citizens if you are tired of following the missions. As of 2021, Grand Theft Auto V is the second best-selling video game of all time, with over 150 million copies sold worldwide. The enhanced version is set to push those numbers even higher. Platform: Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X and S Release date: November 11, 2021 7. Battlefield 2042

The Battlefield franchise is known for realistic graphics and compelling gameplay. This first-person shooter is the first time in recent years that a Battlefield game is exclusively multiplayer without a single-player campaign. Cross-platform play is also available for the first time. Developed by DICE and published by Electronic Arts, this is the 17th installment of the Battlefield series. Set in the future, Battlefield 2042 features fictional futuristic weaponry, gadgets, and vehicles. Each operator will have unique skills and gadgets, and all players can use all the weapons they have unlocked. A new Plus system was introduced to let players customize their weapons on the go. The traditional class system was also changed. Players are now able to play as a specialist under the four main classes of Assault, Engineer, Recon, and Medic. There will be 10 specialists for each lobby. An extreme weather system was also enacted to provide a more diverse and immersive gaming experience. There are three main multiplayer gameplay modes available. Conquest has two opposing teams fighting each other over control points. Breakthrough lets teams capture each other’s control points, which means you have to defend your areas. All Out Warfare covers both modes. Platform: Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X and S Release date: November 19, 2021 8. Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker

Another sequel to a cult classic franchise, this game is set to become the next major multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG). Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker was developed and published by Square Enix as the fourth expansion pack for Final Fantasy XIV. The story follows the main character as you confront the Garlean Empire that is threatening to wipe out your homeland and people. This expansion features new areas, a higher level cap of 90, and two new character classes. You can now play as a Sage or Reaper. While the gameplay and structure are identical to that of the base game, the Endwalker expansions allow current players to raise their levels and engage in a whole new storyline. A new feature called the Island Sanctuary allows players to tend to their own garden as well as have pets on a deserted island. This is intended to provide players with rest and relief from the intense gameplay and competition. The enhanced World Visit system now allows you to travel to other data centers and connect with more players. Platform: Microsoft Windows, macOS, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 Release date: November 23, 2021 9. Beyond a Steel Sky

This cyberpunk science fiction adventure game was developed by Revolution Software as a sequel to the 1994 game Beneath a Steel Sky. The game was first released for iOS, macOS, Microsoft Windows, and Linux in 2020. It is set to be released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in November 2021. The story is set 10 years after the events of the original game. You again play as Robert Foster as he returns to Union City looking for a kidnapped child. The game is set in a futuristic version of the Earth where megacities were built over the nuclear wastelands caused by wars. The Gap is a place where tribal communities live and survive by hunting and trading. Beyond a Steel Sky also explores the class disparity between the Gaplanders and the privileged that live in the megacities. Beyond a Steel Sky received generally positive reviews from media outlets for its iOS version. PC Gamer (US) gave it an 81 out of 100 rating. Platform: Microsoft Windows, Linux, macOS, iOS, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch Release date: November 30, 2021
