Lazzarini Design Studio is making waves with a nod to naval architecture through their latest and greatest, the Embryon tender concept. Its 27 photograph lookbook reveals it all in very few words. The 79-foot yacht is a serious gamechanger out on the water. The Embryon is visually stunning thanks to a unique carbon fiber hull. From the outside, it has a geometric pattern cast over a reflective surface. On the inside, though, the same material is transparent, offering once-in-a-lifetime views of the surrounding waters from the lofty cabin. Fun fact: This material weighs less than 30% less than the materials normally used to construct a designer yacht. The dry carbon fiber structure is what makes the difference the designer has been quoted explaining by multiple sources. At 79 feet, the floating masterpiece can be maneuvered using a hydrogen propulsion system or a hybrid setup made of two MAN V-12 diesel motors and an electric motor. The electric motor is separate and maxes out at 22 knots in terms of speed. Reports summarize that the yacht can be built to run entirely on electricity with a configuration of three 1260 hp electric motors. Each motor would be powered by hydrogen; the two diesel tanks would be replaced by the hydrogen ones. At any rate, both versions run on two side-steering jet drives along with one central fixed jet drive. Time-wise, that’s a two-hour operating range. If the speed is cut down to about half, the electric drive has an estimated go-time of four hours. With all of its power, it can top out at speeds of 65 knots while carrying up to eight individuals. The master, VIP, and three double suites are perfect for overnights. During the day, the party will roar under the sun as the crew sprawls out over two L-lounges and sundeck. Of course, the 69 square meter living space will not disappoint. The Italian designer Pierpaolo Lazzarini pushes the limit with the Embryon. The work of art is even being dubbed “the translucent yacht” by some admirers. The natural lines and chrome paint remain both structured and fluid, resulting in a look that is sleek and hydrodynamic. The eco-concept yacht has been listed with a price tag of €6,000,000, roughly $6.96 million. lazzarinidesignstudio.com
