President Barack Obama is one of the most stylish leaders the Whitehouse has ever seen. Not only does he have great taste in clothes, but his footwear choices are always on point. Illustrating his swag is this rare custom made Nike Hyperdunk. Gifted to the 44th President by the sportswear giant in 2009, this sample pair is going up for auction for a crisp $25,000.
Officially known as the President Barack Obama Player Exclusive Nike Hyperdunk, these kicks are made to Obama’s specifications. The shoe is a classic hightop in size 12.5. These slick kicks are based on the Hyperdunks Team USA wore at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.
The pair of sneakers is in pristine condition and has a white leather upper, visible Flywire technology, and Nike’s famous swoosh in dark blue. Other features associated with the President include a red and blue 44 embroidered on the toes and a bald eagle with the date 1776 printed on the insoles.
The sneakers will go on sale this Friday via Sotheby’s Buy Now platform. This newly created shop will list a range of pop culture, fashion, antiques, and vintage items.
“It’s a pleasure to bring such a unique item to market,” Sotheby’s director of eCommerce development Brahm Watcher said in a statement. “This will mark our first major sneaker drop on the Sotheby’s new Buy Now Sneakers Shop. We hope it will be a slam dunk.”
The sale will kick off at 4:44 pm EST on February 12 to coincide with President’s Day weekend. Hit the link below to place a bid this Friday.
