It’s been over 40 years since audiences were first frightened by “the Shape” in the original Halloween, but it seems that Michael Myers isn’t finished yet. The original horror classic spawned a long and convoluted series of films – some sequels and a few reboots – until 2018s Halloween (a direct sequel to the original that ignored the events of the previous films) turned out to be a hit. Jamie Lee Curtis (Freaky Friday) reprised her breakout role as Laurie Strode, turning the former scream queen into a survivalist prepper with the means to take Myers down once-and-for-all. Unfortunately for her, Myers didn’t die in that fire, and he’s back with a vengeance. Director and co-writer David Gordon Green (Pineapple Express) returns alongside the horror icon with Halloween Kills, which begins seconds after the ending to the 2018 soft-reboot/sequel. If you thought the 2018 Halloween was intense, the trailer for this film proves it’s only the beginning. You can watch the trailer and read the official synopsis for Halloween Kills below.
Minutes after Laurie Strode, Karen, and Allyson left masked monster Michael Myers caged and burning in Laurie’s basement, Laurie is rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, believing she finally killed her lifelong tormentor. But when Michael manages to free himself from Laurie’s trap, his ritual bloodbath resumes. As Laurie fights her pain and prepares to defend herself against him, she inspires all of Haddonfield to rise up against their unstoppable monster. This film is set to be the second of an intended Halloween sequel trilogy directed by David Gordon Green, culminating in a final installment, Halloween Ends, set to be released in 2022. When Green took over the Blumhouse Twitter account last year, he teased that this film would feature the most violent scene he’s ever directed. Halloween Kills is set to premiere in theaters this October (probably around Halloween).
