After teasing fans earlier this week, publisher Activision has released the first official trailer for Call of Duty: Vanguard. Taking place during World War II, the 18th game in the hit series is set for release on November 5. Revealed during a special event that took place in Call of Duty: Warzone, the trailer doesn’t show a hell of a lot of gameplay, instead focusing on the game’s visuals. The game will take place across four major locations – North Africa, Eastern Front, Western Front, and the Pacific Theatre – with players taking control of four different characters who make up Task Form One.
The soldiers you are able to control during the game are Sergeant Arthur Kingsley of the 9th Parachute Battalion (British), Lieutenant Polina Petrova of the 138th Rifle Division (Soviet), Lieutenant Wade Jackson of the Navy Scouting Squadron Six (US), and Private Lucas Riggs of the 20th Battalion, 9th Infantry Division (Australian). “The four playable characters overcome the desperation and chaos of war, captured by the Axis powers, each rising from the trenches to become one of the original Operatives; the prototype for the modern special forces soldier as they fight for victory in tide-turning battles across the globe,” is the description about the characters found on the Call of Duty website. An advanced Gunsmith and Caliber system is also being introduced along with the next generation of the seminal 2v2 Gunfight mode first introduced in Modern Warfare. Zombie mode will also be returning with Treyarch leading development. This is the first Call of Duty franchise crossover, with zombie mode set to be a prologue to the Black Ops Cold War zombie story. Call of Duty: Vanguard officially launches on November 5, 2021, for PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. callofduty.com
